Got a call from a guy in Oxnard, off the Rice Avenue corridor, living in one of those gated HOA communities. His tow company could not get past the gate. The HOA required advance approval for commercial vehicles and the flatbed was not on the list. His 2006 RX 330 sat inside the gates with a broken key and no way out.
I drove through behind a resident. Found him in his driveway looking defeated.
His remote head key had taken a hit. The TOY43 blade was bent at the shoulder and the plastic housing was cracked open, battery gone. The transponder chip was still in one piece, which saved him time. I used my VVDI2 to read the 4D-67 chip data from his damaged key, cloned it onto a fresh TOY43 remote head blank with the HYQ12BBT shell, and cut the blade to code right there on the tailgate of my van.
Programmed the remote buttons, tested the lock, unlock, and panic, then started the engine twice to make sure the immobilizer handshake was clean. The whole job took maybe 35 minutes.
His car never left the driveway. No tow, no HOA paperwork for a flatbed, no two-week wait at the Lexus dealer. He walked back inside and I let myself out through the gate. Quiet neighborhood, quiet job.
