2015 Lexus RX
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How do I know you are not a scam locksmith?

It's a fair thing to check. Scam locksmiths are a real pattern in this industry: a low number quoted by phone, an unmarked car, a tech who can't name the company, and a final price that has nothing to do with the original quote. EZ Car Keyz has over 100,000 followers across YouTube and TikTok where you can watch actual jobs on Lexus and other vehicles before you ever call. We give a firm price on the phone.

Q: Will the replacement key work exactly like the original?

Yes. Every function gets tested before I leave: door handle touch unlock on all doors, lock and unlock buttons, the start button reading the fob, and the remaining buttons on the fob. I'm not done until it all works.

Q: I bought a replacement fob online. Can you just program it to my 2015 RX?

Yes, as long as the fob is the correct one for the 2015 RX. Bring it and I'll verify it before anything else. What I can't do is make the wrong fob work through programming. There are listings online selling fobs that look identical but are built for different vehicles or different model years, and the vehicle security system will reject them no matter what tool is used.

Q: I lost both keys to my 2015 RX. Is an all-keys-lost situation something you can handle, or does it have to go to the dealer?

That's a standard job. All-keys-lost on the 2015 RX means connecting to the vehicle through the diagnostic port, clearing the existing key registrations, and enrolling the new fob or fobs from scratch. The emergency insert key inside the fob also gets cut to the vehicle. The whole job typically runs 45 minutes to an hour because the registration process has a timed sequence built in.

2015 Lexus RX Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Over in Poinsettia on a Saturday evening, a couple came out of a theater to a completely unresponsive RX. Handles did nothing, no door unlocking, nothing. They tried clicking the fob a few times in the parking lot, figured it was something major, and were already mentally scheduling a dealer appointment for Monday morning.

Then one of them searched for a Lexus locksmith in Ventura and found me. I was close.

When I got there, the first thing I did was check whether the start button would still read the fob. It did, barely, which told me the battery was almost gone but the fob itself wasn't the problem. The door handles run on a shorter-range signal and they give up first. Classic low-battery behavior on this system.

I opened the fob, pulled the old CR1632, and the difference in voltage was obvious on my tester. Seated a fresh one, made sure the contact clips were holding it flat, closed it back up.

Walked every handle. Touch unlock front driver, front passenger, rear doors. Lock button on the handle. Start button. Every function on all four buttons. Everything came back clean.

They didn't need a new fob, didn't need programming, didn't need to wait until Monday. Just the right call at the right time, with the part already in the van. The dealer route would have been a Monday appointment, a diagnostic fee, and a parts order. They drove home that night.
