Over in Poinsettia on a Saturday evening, a couple came out of a theater to a completely unresponsive RX. Handles did nothing, no door unlocking, nothing. They tried clicking the fob a few times in the parking lot, figured it was something major, and were already mentally scheduling a dealer appointment for Monday morning.

When I got there, the first thing I did was check whether the start button would still read the fob. It did, barely, which told me the battery was almost gone but the fob itself wasn't the problem. The door handles run on a shorter-range signal and they give up first. Classic low-battery behavior on this system.
I opened the fob, pulled the old CR1632, and the difference in voltage was obvious on my tester. Seated a fresh one, made sure the contact clips were holding it flat, closed it back up.
Walked every handle. Touch unlock front driver, front passenger, rear doors. Lock button on the handle. Start button. Every function on all four buttons. Everything came back clean.
They didn't need a new fob, didn't need programming, didn't need to wait until Monday. Just the right call at the right time, with the part already in the van. The dealer route would have been a Monday appointment, a diagnostic fee, and a parts order. They drove home that night.
