A couple near Mission San Buenaventura came out of the theater on a Saturday night and their 2015 RX was dead to the fob. No chirp, no door handle unlock, nothing. They stood there clicking the remote like everyone does, waiting for it to change its mind.

On site, I popped the fob open on the hood so they could see it. Dead CR1632, and the positive battery contact had a slight bow from someone prying the case apart before. Seated a fresh cell, straightened the clip, and ran the resync through my programmer to get the fob talking to the smart ECU on the 89990-0E011 receiver board again.
Then the real test: walk every door handle for proximity unlock, check the handle lock button, trunk release, and push-to-start. All four buttons on the remote, both lock and unlock range from thirty feet out. Everything responded clean.
They drove home Saturday night instead of calling a cab. When the van is stocked, a call at 9 PM on a Saturday is the same as 9 AM on a Tuesday.
