I got a call from a guy parked near the water over in Ormond Beach. He was standing next to his 2010 Corvette in a lot, holding his fob, and the car just was not responding. Doors wouldn't unlock from the handle, the key warning was lit on the dash, and he had already tried locking and unlocking manually with the insert key buried in the fob. He thought the whole system had gone out.

I drove out to him with my kit. The first thing I did was open the fob right there on the hood. CR2032 inside was reading low, not dead but not healthy either. Swapped it, re-seated it cleanly, closed the fob back up.
Then I walked the car. Checked both door handles, ran all four buttons, watched the dash. Everything came back. The fob was talking to the car again, the key warning cleared, and the handles were responding at a normal distance.
He stood there quiet for a second, then asked what the damage was. When I told him, he laughed a little and said the body shop he called first had already quoted him a diagnostic fee just to look at it.
He did not need a new fob. He did not need a dealer. He needed someone to come out to Ormond Beach and spend fifteen minutes doing the right thing first.
