2025 Chevrolet Corvette
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How long should a replacement key hold up on a 2025 Corvette?

Years, realistically, with normal use and a fresh CR2450 when the battery warning shows up. The electronics inside are durable. What usually goes first is the housing, especially on a fob that lives in a pocket with coins or gets dropped on hard surfaces. If the shell cracks but the internal board is intact, the board can often be moved into a new housing without starting the programming process over.

Q: What happens if the replacement key stops working after a few weeks?

Call us and we come back. We test every button, every function, and the start before we leave any job. If something fails under normal use after we've done the work, we fix or replace it. No charge, no runaround. There are stories on Corvette forums about owners paying serious money for a key that worked inconsistently from the start and then getting nowhere with the shop that made it. That's not how we operate.

Q: My Corvette fob works sometimes and not others. Is the fob failing or is this a vehicle-side issue?

Intermittent fob behavior on these is one of the more common complaints owners post about, and the cause isn't always the fob itself. Start with the battery. The CR2450 in this fob has more capacity than a standard CR2032, but when it starts dropping voltage it produces exactly this kind of inconsistent behavior rather than a clean failure. Swap the battery first with a name-brand cell, not a generic.

Q: I have a spare Corvette fob I bought online. Can you program it to my car?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. The honest answer is it depends on where that fob came from and whether it's the correct configuration for your vehicle. Programming is done through the diagnostic port and requires professional equipment. What we can't guarantee ahead of time is that a fob from an unknown source will accept the pairing process. If it does pair, great. If it doesn't, you're out what you paid for the fob online and you still need a key.

2025 Chevrolet Corvette Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call just before 6am from a job site out in the Thille/Montalvo area of Ventura. The guy was a warehouse worker, shift starting at 6, and his Corvette fob had taken a hard drop off a workbench the night before. The housing had cracked and the key blade had separated from the fob body. He'd tried getting it together with electrical tape. It wasn't holding.

You could hear the background noise when he called. Forklifts, a PA system, the foreman doing roll call. He wasn't calling to chat.

I had the van stocked and was on site in about 20 minutes. The blade itself wasn't stuck anywhere, which helped. I decoded the lock, got the blade cut, transferred what needed to be transferred into a new housing, and ran the programming sequence. The whole hands-on time was close to 25 minutes. Before I left I cut him a backup so the spare wasn't just a thought anymore.

He made it to his station. Texted me that afternoon, short and to the point, which is how those guys communicate. The dealer would have meant a tow, a wait for a service appointment, and most of a workday gone. Not what you want when your foreman is already watching the clock.

Chevrolet Corvette Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

Do you use OEM or aftermarket keys on the 2025 Corvette?▼

We use professional-grade keys built to factory spec, matched to the correct fob configuration for your vehicle. The concern with sourcing your own fob online isn't just quality, it's compatibility. Not every aftermarket fob sold as a match actually pairs cleanly with this generation of Corvette's security system, and a failed programming attempt can sometimes leave you in a worse spot than when you started. We've seen that pattern enough times that we stopped accepting customer-supplied fobs for these.
