Out near Point Mugu State Park in Oxnard, a guy had pulled off PCH with his 2014 Corvette and the key snapped clean in the ignition. Half the blade jammed in the cylinder, the other half sitting in his palm.
He had already called someone else. That locksmith told him the ignition cylinder needed to come out, get drilled, and be replaced. New cylinder, new keys, big bill. He called me before committing to that.
I used a B106 Lishi tool to slide in alongside the broken fragment and pull it out without scratching the wafer surfaces inside. Once the piece came out clean, I decoded the lock right there, reading each wafer position for the exact cut depths. The C7 uses that HU100 sidewinder keyway, so I cut a new emergency insert blade on site from the decode, then programmed a new 20765513 smart key through the OBD port on the GM SPS/Tech2 protocol.
No drilling. No cylinder swap. His original ignition works with the new key exactly the way it did before the snap.
He kept turning the key back and forth in the cylinder a few times, like he was waiting for something to feel wrong. Nothing did. He drove off with the same lock, same cylinder, and a working smart key for a fraction of what that other plan would have run him.
