I got a call from a woman in Oxnard Shores who'd owned her 2011 Corvette for about three years on a single key. She always meant to get a spare. You know how that goes.
She was at her parking spot when the flip hinge finally gave out. The blade snapped off inside the door lock cylinder, and she was standing there holding the fob housing with nothing to show for it. Zero working keys, car locked, blade fragment stuck in the cylinder.

I transferred what I needed, cut two fresh key blades, rebuilt one fob into a new flip housing, and had both keys programmed and tested before she finished her phone call.
Thirty-five minutes, start to finish. She had two working keys instead of one broken one.
She asked about the dealer on her way back inside. I told her they would have taken a day minimum, probably two, and the number she would have paid was a good chunk more than what I charged. She said she wished she'd just gotten the spare when she bought the car.
